Deputy Inspection: The Service that’s Keeping Everyone Safe

By the time you finish reading this, you’ll greatly appreciate the job Deputy Inspectors do in order to keep everybody safe within the city. It is not easy to keep an eye on those construction workers all day, let alone inspect every single detail of what they do. Deputy Inspection duties are basically about how the construction is done – that is, if the planning is being followed and if the construction of the building is according to the Building Code of the city.
You might be wondering what exactly a Special Inspector does in the construction site. Well, they are not really there to boss anybody around but they are there to check up on a few things that can lead to disaster if taken for granted. These among other things are very important for the construction of any building, and are what the Deputy Inspector checks: reinforced concrete, post tension concrete, fire proofing, structural masonry, epoxy injection, bolting, shear wall nailing, structural steel/welding and PT cable verification and inspection. Checking is necessary to ensure the safety of the building and its premises; it also done so that in the end, the lives of many civilians will not be endangered by faulty construction which may lead to disasters like fire. Generally, Deputy Inspection is concerned with fire safety and protection relative to the structural design of the building. This is because more often than not, fire is the reason why buildings go down. It is the deputy inspector’s duty to think ahead about possible disaster scenarios. In one building construction, there are at least a few Deputy Inspectors working as a team to see to it that everything will be checked. They also work in coordination with the city government office to make sure that the construction of the building is not going against what is stated within the limitations of the International Building Code (Article 1704). And when it comes to construction, these guys are there to enforce the standards of the municipal government.
Safety and protection is the main concern in Special Inspection hence, you should be proud that your city government is taking full responsibility for these kinds of things. Disasters are inevitable – they can happen to anybody at any given time. So the best way to keep yourself safe is to adhere to the standards of the building code in your area. Always remember that it is after all for the good of everyone.
